Engineered wood flooring is constructed of layers of real wood, including a hardwood top layer, glued firmly together under high pressure for greater stability. The hardwood veneer is available in different designs, finishes and thicknesses to suit all interiors.
The middle and bottom layers are generally made from plywood and provide strength and balance, making engineered boards suitable for most areas of the home, including kitchens.
The structure of engineered wood floors means they can be installed as a floating floor on top of any type of sub-floor. This makes the installation of engineered wood flooring straightforward and efficient. The planks can be installed using a click/lock or gluing system over a sub-floor.
Depending on the thickness of the engineered boards, nails can also be used. The top layer is pre-finished, so has already been sanded and sealed prior to installation. Once it is laid, it can be walked on and enjoyed immediately.
Engineered wood floors are ideal for areas where solid wood flooring is not suitable and can be combined with underfloor heating. A robust and durable alternative to solid wood, engineered boards have many of the same benefits as laminate flooring, being easy to maintain and clean, making it ideal for the busy family home.
Stockbridge Flooring can advise on all aspects of installation and supply you with many different options of engineered wood flooring, including styles, plank lengths and widths to suit your needs.
The Stockbridge Flooring team restored our kitchen floor efficiently and beautifully. The guys were cheerful, helpful & friendly and got the job done on time and with the minimum of disruption and mess. Most importantly, the end product looks great!
Mark and his team did an excellent job on our oak flooring, both repairing and replacing damaged boards and sanding and varnishing. They were very efficient, pleasant to deal with and left everything clean and tidy. They are a pleasure to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending this company.
I found Mark to be very helpful and responsive. He came round to look at my job within 3 hours of my initial phone call. He was very knowledgeable and was able to detect the problem with my existing wooden floor right away. He undertook some urgent remedial work right away and was able to start the job a week later. The work was completed within the time set and was of a good standard. My floor now has no lumps and bumps and no longer creaks with each step.
